Laying out template shapes to stamp into the clay
Mural divided into tiles with some of the design completed

The idea was to make a mural that could be tied into the science curriculum and that would brighten up a dull wall in the playground, as well as celebrating the natural world in an inner city area. We incorporated the life-cycles of a butterfly, a bird and a frog as well as depicting several different habitats and food cycles. Pupils drew from good quality sources, made lino-cuts to be stamped into the clay, as well as colouring the bisque fired clay.
