"At Our Lady of Victories we were seeking a partnership with artists for a whole school project to brighten up our outdoor playground environment - and Maud and her team at Artyface were a godsend! With endless patience and good humour, the artists and volunteers work tirelessly and their infectious enthusiasm for the work which they are doing is contagious. During the period when the work has been going on in school there has been a stream of eager children and adults wanting to participate. Maud herself is a jewel among artisans, inspired and inspiring, driven to share her skills and enthusiasm with as many people as possible, generously modelling her craft with others. She is super-organised and has shouldered the major part of the work in bidding for funds, resourcing and supplying the materials. Without her the project would not have been anywhere near as successful - she really does make dreams come to fruition!"

"The whole school community has thoroughly enjoyed working with Artyface. From the moment that Maud first arrived in school to discuss the brief to the completion of the work everything has been organised and executed exceptionally well. Maud and her team are great to work with. The whole experience has been a joy and completely 'hassle free'."

"We were delighted here at Trinity Buoy Wharf that Maud and Artyface produced this wonderful school sign. The approach of working with the school pupils to come up with the design is really great. The end result is such a fresh welcome to the school. Maud always delivers a really lovely result and on budget and on time."

"Women@theWell is a day centre for vulnerable women based in Kings Cross. Women@thewell worked with Artyface on our memorial project in March and April 2011. The staff and volunteers at Artyface were all fantastic with our service users and engaged them in this piece of work. I have never had a project that has engaged this number of service users and for such a sustained amount of time. We would be more than happy to work with Artyface on projects in the future."

"We were looking for something really special to set off our new building as well as improving the street-scape and Artyface delivered. Our brief included east meets west artistic traditions and, by liaising with a local museum, this was achieved in a stunning way. The children learnt much and really enjoyed making a mosaic they can be rightly proud of."

"I absolutely loved the fantastic experience of doing the mural. I will never forget doing it and learning so much about the tiles and how the mural works, like using the mesh with the handmade tiles. I will also never forget meeting the Mayor. The good thing is that every child gets to participate. With a special thanks to you, Maud, Leona, Catherine and everyone else who helped out on the mural!"

"Hello my name is Nazeerah Begum and I have done the mural for quite a long time. Although it is hard work, it is really fun. One thing that is so amazing is that everybody in the school community, even in the area, are taking part in the school mural and we all make a very fantastic team! We have been working with Maud, Clem, Sunita, Leona, Jay and Jill and they are all phenomenal helpers. The mosaic tiles are made out of clay, stone, glass and plates. The tiles are smooth and you have to place it the right way up. Yu can know how to make the tiles stuck on the right way up by feeling a rough side, then sticking the rough side onto the surface. The theme for the mural is animals and nature. It's been really fun working on the mural over the past week and I hope it's a fantastic piece when it goes up on the wall!"

"We did some drawings in the Natural History Museum's Wildlife Garden. I drew different kinds of leaves, they had different patterns. It was very exciting going out on a school trip because we got to see new things and we had lots of time to draw. I thought I would do very badly but then I saw everybody's drawings and thought we all did very well. The artists chose the drawings and made a design. We used different kinds of tiles: golden, concrete, recycled tiles, all different colourful tiles and much more than that to make the mosaic."

"Participating in this project has been such a great experience for me. I have learnt a lot and really enjoyed it. It has taught me so much like how to place small tiles into the right places and I've learnt about lots of different types of tiles. This project was a great idea because it has put lots of memories into my head for when I leave this school."

"I am absolutely delighted by the buzz that has been created in our school by the fantastic mural work. This is really what is meant by a whole school project - it's a real community effort. Maud and her team have been an absolute pleasure to work with."

"What a delight it has been to have been working on a whole school mural project led by Maud Milton. The excitement on the children's faces when they see their drawing coming to life in shiny colourful tiles is worth its weight in gold. It's been a great opportunity to bring in parents and older brother and sisters from the local secondary school. Even reception children have been able to work on tiny clay tiles which they will love finding when the mosaic is in place. It has brought everybody together in a wonderful creative way. We can't wait to see the finished project greeting us everyday as we walk through the school gates."
Lindy Batchelor

"The launch was a big success and really enjoyed by everybody and as the PTA said, the mosaic looked fabulous and everybody thought so! Thanks once again for all your hard work."
Mandy Paish
Headteacher, Grangetown Primary School, Cardiff
"I have had the pleasure of working with Maud Milton in two separate educational settings (Alexandra Junior School in the London Borough of Bromley in 2006 and Friars Primary Foundation School in the London Borough of Southwark in 2008).

On both occasions she was commissioned to design and make, with the involvement of the whole school community, lasting ceramic and mosaic murals that would be placed in prominent positions in the school. On both occasions the brief was complicated and subtle and I can say without reservation that she met the briefs with passion, accuracy and creativity. Her work is of an exceptional quality and I am very proud to have it displayed so prominently both in my current school and Alexandra Juniors.

Maud has an infectious enthusiasm for her work and certainly at Friars, the entire school was motivated and excited about the project. She works with skill and ease with both children and adults and although she holds a creative authority over her projects she is also very keen to incorporate the ideas of others. She is always punctual, reliable and professional in her dealings with schools and her skills are wide ranging in that she assisted us in sourcing funding for the projects and in how to market them to local press after their unveilings.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Maud and she will undoubtedly add a great deal of value to any organisation she is involved with."

Headteacher, Friars Primary School, Waterloo, London 2009
"We are absolutely delighted with our mosaic created by Artyface. The project was a whole community project that not only involved all pupils in the school but also provided opportunities to parents, grandparents and friends of the community to be involved. The finished product was totally above our expectations and has spectacularly enhanced our Key Stage 1 entrance."
Mandy Paish
Headteacher, Grangetown Primary School, Cardiff, Wales 2009
"Working with Maud and the other artists/muralists from Artyface was a wonderful experience for the whole school community. Pupils, staff, parents and governors were all given an opportunity to contribute to the design and making of our golden jubilee mural. The mural itself is a masterpiece, which relects our school and all we aim for. Every visitor has made positive remarks about our mural and it will be a wonderful reminder of our golden jubilee celebrations long into the future."
Teresa McBride
Headteacher, Our Lady of Muswell RC Primary School, Muswell Hill, London 2009
"We have had some fantastic response to the mural from staff and the students alike which has made me very proud of all the work we did. It looks fantastic today as the sun is shining so brightly, the mirror sparkles and really looks like water."
Martha Cadle
Art Teacher, The Misbourne Art and Technology College, Buckinghamshire 2008
"We used Artyface because we embarked on exciting projects in partnership. The projects were related to school themes or the curriculum. The children were involved from the initial stages and their own art work makes up the majority of the finished murals. The skills and talents of Maud and the other Artists turned the children's art into a finished piece that everyone can admire and delight in. They use an inclusive approach and the whole school community can get involved."

"I loved joining in and participating in the mosaic project. Me and my friends love it. The drawing excercises were great too. What made it even better as that it was a first time experience and we found a new interest so it really makes me want to go again. I really hope other people get an opportunity like this."

"I enjoyed doing mosaics and it taught me how to be more creative and how to glue tiles properly. It's really nice if you like being an artist and if you are interested in doing mosaics. You have to learn to glue them with gaps between and you don't have to put them in one straight line. The drawing was cool because it was properly creative and unusual. Doing this drawing made me feel I could just express myself and draw anything I wanted. I enjoyed it because we learnt more about art and art is my favourite subject. I went to every lunch-time club."

"The mosaic was quite complicated. We were drawing and sticking tiles on the mesh. It was really great since I've never done this before. The drawing exercise was inspiring since we had to draw the way people move. I really liked it. The mosaic was always colourful but I didn't know that you could also use dark colours. It was also one of the most interesting activities of my life."
Samina
Year 6 Purple, Bangabandhu Primary School, Tower Hamlets, London
"I enjoyed the after-school club. I liked being part of this project. I wish I could still be a part of it. The exercise I liked the most was when we had to pretend to be a bumblebee and we had to draw with our hand shaking. I also liked drawing the route from home to school using symbols. The other thing I liked was when we drew instruments."
